The Others 2001 film Movie Full Story

The events of the film begin in the place where the events take place, which is the English Channel Islands, with the awakening of Grace Stewart (Nicole Kidman) from a nightmare, and that was in 1945 in Jersey, and her husband was fighting in France, but he had not yet returned to his homeland, despite the end of the war, and Grace Stewart lives Alone with her two children.

The film tells of how Mrs. Grace woke up one day when she did not find the previous servants, and three new servants she had sent for her arrived at her house, they are the old lady Bertha Mills, the servant Mr. Tuttle, and the little maid Lydia, and Grace insists to give them instructions despite Bertha telling her that they They served in this house before.

Grace told the servants that her sons Anne and Nicholas suffer from a rare type of sensitivity to sunlight and that they would die if they were exposed to the sun, so she made sure to close all the windows and draw the black curtains, and prevented any door from opening, and Mrs. Grace's response to Bertha was very strong Strict when Bertha suggested that she try the sun's rays on her children, this rare disease might have gone away.

At this moment, Grace hears strange sounds and movements in the house, she discovers that there is a family of a man, a woman, an old woman, and a boy named Victor living with them in the house. Don't scare her brother.

Grace scolds her daughter and forbids her to say that because she is scaring her brother, but the girl goes on and tells her mother that she is playing with Victor, and she also told her that the old lady asks her what happened, so the mother gets upset and locks the child into her room

Grace believes that the house is inhabited by evil spirits, and decides to bring the priest, but Bertha tries to stop her because of the fog, but Grace insists and goes out and finds her husband in the fog.

He enters the house with her and she told him what happened, which made him angry and sad, so Grace tells him that she was depressed about what is happening. And she went to look for the curtains, and she fired the servants when she asked them to find the curtains, and their response was that there was no need for these curtains, as she thought that they did it on purpose to kill her two children.

While searching for the curtains, she finds the Book of the Dead belonging to the owners of the old house, only to be surprised that the pictures of the three servants are among the pictures of the dead in the book.

With the increasing effect of intruders in the house and the shaking of the house, he made her take the gun to kill the servants, and she finds Mr. Tuttle in the garden, who tells her of their death a long time ago and reveals to her their graves.

Grace ran to the house to hide with her children. She saw the old lady again talking to Anna and Nicholas holding papers, to reveal to them that they were dead, and Grace and her children shouted that they were not dead and scattered the papers.

The events of the film starts from a reverse angle, showing Victor's mother telling her husband that she will not remain in this way, which has become haunted, after the woman who lived in it before, referring to this lady Grace herself, strangled her two children and killed herself.

Then the servants come home again to tell Grace that they are all dead but that they don't know why they are staying in this house, and that they must coexist with any new inhabitants of the house.

The viewer discovers an unexpected ending in the movie, as throughout watching the movie, you will not expect that the angle is reversed and that the protagonists are the ones who died, and it turns out that the “infiltrators” are the only people alive in the house.

This film reflects a different view of any viewer who imagines while sitting to watch a horror movie. The movie talks about a haunted house, but it does not match the type of horror that the viewer might imagine. It is not full of effects, violent shocks, undulating stairs, intervening corridors, tombs, and doors It won't close or won't open, which is what happens in horror movies, some of which are less than movies inspired by a true story.

This movie embodies the state of psychological horror, especially when you see the end of the movie and you will know what the director of the work means. Passion, we may be the reason for the destruction, suffocation, or imprisonment of those we love under the pretext of their protection and love.

This movie is in contrast to any horror movie, especially horror movies of real stories, quiet, dark, and full of sadness, and the slowness of the characters and events is part of the embodiment of the state of psychological horror that the viewer falls under its influence while waiting for the climax of events, as it is awaiting and evasive game in the first place.

Director Alejandro Amenabar manages to create an atmosphere of vulnerability, and Nicole Kidman manages to convince the viewer that she is an ordinary person in a disturbing situation and not just an ordinary horror movie.

This film aroused widespread controversy, as it combined classic horror with a deep vision of events that embody the state of psychological horror through the mirrored mirror. It carries new and deep ideas that transcend the limits of classic horror to present a deep philosophical vision. The film begins with scenes that suggest classic horror films such as the fog that surrounds With a large house that creates a state of mystery and suspense, but contrary to what the viewer imagines, where the director manipulates the viewer’s imagination throughout the film to find himself seeing the image in reverse, the heroine throughout the film is afraid of the presence of intruders, but the end shocks you that the intruders are the living and that Grace, her children, her husband, and the servants are dead.

This shocking ending ranked the film as one of the best films of the twenty-first century, as there is a complete reversal of the accepted standards despite the logical references that are absent from the viewer's eyes amid the classic features surrounding the events.

Where the film shows the two ideas of death and life as two sides of the same coin, the film also presents symbols that refer to deep and mysterious thoughts, the fog that surrounds the house is a deep reference to everything that surrounds one in his life, in addition to the comedy that is perfectly employed through usual life situations, such as ideas The two children during discussions.

The film succeeded due to the integration of all the basic components on which all events are based, such as the strength of the script, the idea itself is new and amazing, and the direction that was able to employ everything in its place, such as lighting, music, and mystery, in addition to the wonderful performance of the actors.
